Happy birthday to all of you born in February!
Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz, occurring naturally as crystals within rocks. It is the most valued member of the quartz family, considered a semiprecious gem for its violet color. Heating amethyst removes the color or changes it to the yellow of Citrine. Today, most Citrines is made in this way. The word amethyst comes from the Greek word "amethystos," meaning sober.
A gift of amethyst is a symbol of protection, said to strengthen the bonds of love and overcome difficulty. It is also a symbol of spirituality and piety.
And for all of you February babies, I just had to make a simple yet stunning Amethyst :) So here is an addition to my *Alina* collection: Amethyst earrings and Amethyst necklace in 14K gold filled.
