A quiet transition from black to white, shaped in wool and silk. This handmade scarf explores contrast through the softness of natural fibers and the fluidity of the nuno felting process.
Fine merino wool is carefully laid out in tonal layers to create a smooth ombre gradient. Silk is then added, allowing the fibers to migrate through the fabric during felting. As water, soap, and movement are applied, the materials begin to bond and shrink together, forming organic textures and soft, sculptural ruffles.
The result is a lightweight yet expressive piece that naturally curves into a collar-like shape. Each fold and ripple is created by the interaction between wool and silk, making every scarf unique.
You can see a short reel showing how this scarf was made on my Instagram.
Balancing structure and softness, this felted scarf sits somewhere between an accessory and wearable textile art, designed to bring subtle drama through texture, movement, and contrast 💖
