Golden Rutilated Quartz earrings and necklace set wire wrapped 14K gold filled. Handmade gemstone jewelry by Arctida.

One of my most favorite semiprecious gemstones to work with and to wear is Golden Rutilated Quartz. It looks like a frozen drop of water with small bars of embedded gold. And when the light hits it just right all that gold explodes with tons of sparkles! I recently found a new supplier for my Golden Rutilated Quartz addiction and they had a new shape (Heart shaped briolette) of these wonderful gems in stock so I thought I will make a set and offer it as a choice for my customers.

Elina - Golden Rutilated Quartz earrings and necklace set wire wrapped 14K gold filled. Handmade gemstone jewelry by Arctida.

One of my most favorite semiprecious gemstones to work with and to wear is Golden Rutilated Quartz. It looks like a frozen drop of water with small bars of imbedded gold. And when the light hits it just right all that gold explodes with tons of sparkles! oh and did you know what one of the names for Golden Rutile Quartz is Venus Hair Stone. The name is based on a beautiful legend. There was once Venus, goddess of love bathed in mountain springs. Having lost a lock of her golden hair, she returned to pick it up. But the time is a relative thing, what on Mount Olympus were only a few moments, on Earth were several months! The winter came and the water in the spring along with the hair was frozen. They looked so beautiful in the frozen water, so Venus decided to leave her wonderful hair, but turned the ice into a transparent stone first (from the Greek. "kristallus - ice) so that no one can take the hair of the goddess. And ever since that time people have found a clear crystal that holds the divine hair  of Venus. No wonder that gem is so beautiful! How can one not love the gem containg hair from the Goddess of Love?!

So here is my latest earrings and necklace set with Golden Rutilated Quartz and gold filled :)

14K Solid gold jewelry Golden Rutilated Quartz necklace wire wrapped in 14K gold. Handmade Luxury collection by Arctida.

One of my most favorite semiprecious gemstones is Golden Rutilated Quartz. I love how simplicity of Quartz combines with extravagance of gold. The golden rutiles are not the actual gold but a mineral Rutile (composed of Titanium dioxide often with iron, occasionally with some minor niobium or tantalum) but nevertheless they look like real gold needles. I purchase a lot of Golden Rutilated Quartz for my jewelry and I have different sizes and shapes in my studio and off course the best and most unusual ones I use for my solid gold jewelry *Luxury collection*.

So here is my latest beauty - Golden Rutilated Quartz necklace in 14K solid gold. It is made of one huge Golden Rutilated Quartz smooth briolette drop 18x12 mm and faceted Rock Crystal Clear Quartz round bead.

Harmonia - Agate Citrine Peridot Prasiolite emerald green Quartz necklace in sterling silver and gold filled. Handmade gemstone jewelry by Arctida

Here is another set of custom orders that I have had a chance to photograph so that I can show them to you guys :) All of them are based on my original *Harmonia* necklace that I first made back 2010. The gems vary a little bit and so do the swirls as I make them by hand each time, but the basic Art Nouveau style design is there. The gems that I've used are: green Agate, Citrine, Peridot, Prasiolite (aka green Amethyst) and emerald green Quartz. The metals are both sterling silver and 14K gold filled.

Citrine - November Birthstone

Do you have a birthday in November? Happy Birthday! One of this month’s birthstone, is a lovely Citrine.

The name Citrine comes from an old French world, “Citron”, meaning lemon. One of the more rare forms of quartz, this gemstone ranges in color from the pastel yellow to dark brownish orange named Madeira because of its resemblance to the red wine. The citrine quartz was actually once considered part of the topaz family and can be seen being referred to as the gold topaz, Madeira or Spanish topaz.

This golden gemstone is extremely popular, very collectible and affordable. Citrine is one of only two gems on the entire planet that do not hold any negative energy. As a result, it is said to support vitality and health while encouraging and guiding hope, energy and warmth within the wearer.

Citrine is very much in vogue and is the latest trend hitting the red carpet. (In fact, according to the recently released pantone report, yellow is considered to be one of the hottest colors in spring 2013. Besides, Citrine complements a fall and winter wardrobe and adds a pop of color to your wardrobe.

So here are a couple of my new minimalistic designs with Citrine: golden Citrine necklace and pale pastel yellow Citrine earrings.

and here is a little selection of my previsions designs with Citrine...

Frost - EST weekly challenge

This week’s challenge theme is *Frost* and was picked by Ingemaaike (the winner of the last week’s challenge). I started to Google through internet to find a picture that would inspire me and found this gorgeous shot at National Geographic.

I chose a macro shot of a gorgeous Rock Crystal Clear Quartz briolette that I used in my “Neda” earrings and here is the result – my “Frost” Mandala :)
