Handmade merino wool and silk scarf for women. Earthy red orange color palette.

It's been a while since I've shared something new made of wool and silk here :)

Here is one of my latest handmade nuno felted wool and silk scarf in earthy red orange color palette. It's made with soft merino wool, silk fabric and luxurious silk fibers, carefully felted together to create a beautiful and unique fabric. The addition of silk fibers gives the scarf a beautiful sheen and texture, while also making it lightweight and comfortable to wear. I also added some extra silk fibers for decoration, giving the scarf a unique and personalized touch. Each scarf I make is a one-of-a-kind creation, with subtle variations in texture and color. I love the traditional process of felting and take pride in each piece I make. Stay chic and stylish with a handmade felted wool and silk scarf. Contact me if you're interested in purchasing one!

Handmade felted wool socks Red cashmere merino wool slipper socks

Here is another first try for me. A pair of felted socks to keep my feet toasty and warm on cold nights at our cabin. They look like slippers but only because they were shaped around my feet. Made of pure Cashmere wool on the inside and soft Merino wool (16 mic) on the outside they are extremely soft and fluffy 🥰 and they look so cute on my feet! Every time I wear them I feel like Dorothy in her Ruby slippers 😁

Red jewelry set Enameled jewelry necklace earring set painted abstract swirls - Liquid Lava

I wanted to show you my first try at enameling on copper. It is just as fun as enameling on silver but because copper is cheaper than silver I can experiment more freely.

I used Sgraffito technique with contrasting red, black and white enamels and the end result reminded me of the Lava flows hence the name of the set :)

Deliah - Fine silver jewelry PMC Ruby pendant on leather cord. Handmade pagan style jewelry by Arctida

I've been working with the coolest new media in jewelry making - PMC (Precious Metal Clay) for the past couple of weeks and I'm finally starting to list pieces of jewelry that are made of it.

What is PMC? A unique form of pure silver (mainly composed of recycled silver particles) suspended in an organic binder. In this clay-like state it allows PMC artists to form and sculpt metal clay by hand. When fired at high temperatures by torch or in a jeweler's kiln, the binder burns off and the silver particles are fused together. The result is a one-of-a-kind pure silver piece (.999) purer than Sterling silver (.925).

So here is my latest piece, Deliah - fine silver pmc Ruby pendant on leather cord. This time I wanted to try attaching a stone with a wire, to get that *floating in the air* look, instead of *simply* setting it into the clay. I chose a genuine AA Ruby gemstone for better contrast with oxidized/non oxidized silver.

DIY Christmas Ornament Tree - how to instructions tabletop centerpiece

The Christmas is almost here and we have all the decorations in place. This year me and my little princess decided to make an Ornament Christmas Tree. I’ve seen these kinds of trees surfing the Internet and thought it would be a perfect project to make together with my daughter :)

Supplies: A mix of round Christmas ball ornaments in at least 4 different sizes, knitting needle, ribbon spool, pieces of craft cotton or Styrofoam.

2. Thread the knitting needle up through the bottom of the spool. If the spool has a large hole – you can stuff it with pieces of cotton or Styrofoam to make sure the needle stays straight.

3. String largest Christmas ball ornaments onto the needle, slipping the metal loops on the balls over the point of the needle. Continue with smaller sizes until you are satisfied with the end result.

3. I removed the metal ring from the top ornament and hid the tip of the needle by placing the ornament upside down over the tip.

I love absolutely love the finished tree, it is so festive and pretty and it was so easy to make!

DIY autumn home decor Falling Leaves tutorial - how to make a fall hanging

The fall has left us already and winter has not taken a real grip on south Sweden just yet. All leaves are gone and it is wet and cold outside. I miss fall colors, so me and my daughter decided to preserve some of the autumn leaves that we collected and make a pretty window hanging with them. We used maple leaves because they come in the whole range of autumnal colors, from golden yellow to burgundy red and me and my little princess really love the shape of these pretty leaves :)

So here is a fun DIY project with fall leaves to remember the Autumn.

Supplies: colorful leaves, candle wax or beeswax, double boiler, monofilament, clothespins

1. Slowly melt candle wax or beeswax over a double boiler; never allow wax to boil. Dip leaves in wax one at a time, holding by stem. Gently shake off excess wax. I used candle wax in this project.

2. Hang leaves on clothespins to dry. Some may be dipped again, depending on desired look; let dry between coatings. I used an old newspaper underneath the leaves to avoid wax stains on the floor.

3. Hang finished leaves from lengths of monofilament.

I love how this project turned out. The leaves look like they've been frozen in time while falling down from the tree. And it gives us a chance to enjoy fall just a little bit longer! Next weekend it is time to start decorating before Christmas here in Sweden. I'm thinking of maybe making a Christmas decoration out of these leaves so stay tuned :)

Désirée - Vampire jewelry red necklace Ruby Garnet red Spinel in oxidized sterling silver. Handmade gothic costume cosplay jewellery by Arctida

Seems like today’s youth is obsessed with vampires; the movies, the TV-shows and the books! Anywhere you look there are VAMPIRES flashing their fangs at you :) And off course the premiere of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, which makes me so excited because I’m a huge fan of vampires too!

So I decided to combine my two biggest interests - Jewelry design and Digital Art. A jewelry peace fitting for a hot and sexy vamp girl and off course a real vampire model :) So here is what I ended up with:

I had that classical vampire in mind when I made this: pale skin, red, blood-thirsty eyes, porcelain-white teeth, dark, red lips and a gothic feel in all. I used a model shot on a white background, and the rest is Photoshop. This is my first time making a photo-manipulation with a real model, so I hope you like it :)

The necklace symbolizes drops of blood running down the neck, right after being bitten by a vampire... Guess my model is going to turn into a night child now ;)

Ruby - the July Birthstone

A Ruby is a pink to blood-red colored gemstone, and it is one of the most expensive gemstones. It is a variety of the mineral corundum (Aluminium Oxide), ranked third in hardness after diamond and moissanite. The presence of the element chromium is what mainly causing the red color in Rubies. Any other color than red in gem-quality corundum classifies it as sapphire.

Large rubies are extremely rare and more expensive than diamonds. So in recent years it has become more and more popular with artificial lab grown Rubies (corundum), which in contrast to natural gemstones are perfectly transparent, have solid color, large size, absence of cracks and foreign inclusions. In Rubies the most important feature is the color, the transparency (unlike diamonds) is only of secondary importance and inclusions are usually considered as a proof of its authenticity and natural origin. Ruby changes color every 1000 years and reaches its full perfection only after 7000 years!

Ruby has been the most popular gemstone for thousands of years. It symbolizes love and passion, and believed to promote friendship. Ruby is a stone of power, strength and vibrant energy force. Genuine Ruby protects against evil spells, chases away depression and warns its owner of impending danger by changing hues. This is a magical gemstone that is associated with the mysteries of the World Beyond.
